MicroSYNTH Labstation

The MicroSYNTH Labstation is the most advanced system available for microwave-enhanced chemical reactions. Its multimode cavity, innovative reactor vessels, and sophisticated sensors and process control software easkly integrate into the way you do your chemistry. Whether your approach to synthesis is combinatorial, parallel, batch, or flow-through, Milestone's microwave technology will allow you to perform more reactions in less time and/or with higher yields than conventional methods. (You can click to see technical details of the MicroSYNTH system.)

Several different configurations exist for the MicroSYNTH labstation. It can be configured for combinatorial chemistry, parallel synthesis, or scale-up. You can contact us with questions about your specific needs. Also, check out the accessories available to adapt the MicroSYNTH for the different phases of the synthetic process.

SynthVIEW

synthVIEW

Add a new level of reaction monitoring with the Milestone synthVIEW video camera system.

The miniature camera and display system integrates directly to the cavity wall of your Milestone Microwave Labstation and provides a live video feed presentation of your reaction chemistry from within the cavity. Observe the progress of your chemical reactions inside the microwave cavity just as easily as you keep an eye on your standard reflux reactions on the bench.

The miniature camera system lets you look inside the microwave cavity without opening the cavity door: Monitor stirring action and changes in viscosity, observe gross color changes, ensure vessel integrity, etc.—all without interupting the progress of the microwave process.

Benefits

Scientific Precision

The MicroSYNTH is designed specifically for the demands of laboratory work. Although many early papers reported reactions performed in a modified kitchen appliance, modern chemistry requires sophisticated laboratory instruments. Issues of performance, reaction control, and operator safety must be effectively addressed for microwave technology to receive acceptance in the very industries where it can have the most impact, including drug discovery, materials research, flavors and fragrances, polymers, and fine chemicals.

Process Single or Multiple Reactions Simultaneously

Our patented premixing and mode stirrer design creates uniform energy distribution throughout our large multimode cavity. This results in homogeneous reaction conditions, regardless of sample volume or multiplicity.

Scalability

Milestone offers a comprehensive line of reaction vessels. From microliters to hundreds of liters, from microwell plates, glass, quartz, or Teflon closed vessels, open reflux or closed high-pressure reactors to specifically designed scale up systems, there is a Milestone reactor that will accommodate your specific chemistry.

Precise Reaction Monitoring and Control

Advanced sensor technologies in the MicroSYNTH Labstation provide accurate, dynamic reaction parameter measurements for exacting reproducibility.

Rapid, Reproducible Method Development

Draw your desired temperature profile on our graphic display, and with the click of a mouse, our advanced Windows-based software will dynamically adjust the microwave power to deliver only what is needed to process the reaction according to your predefined profile. If you need to, you can even change parameters in the middle of a reaction.

Mixing Ensures Homogeneous Reaction Media

Our variable speed magnetic stirring module is a complete stirring system, not just a series of fixed magnets. The independently rotated magnet produces consistent stirring of solutions in all vessels, independent of their positions within the cavity.

Use Your Existing Chemistry

With Milestone technology, there is no need to change your existing solvent chemistry to polar mixtures. Milestone's unique WeflonTM (carbon-loaded fluoropolymer) materials directly absorb microwaves, and transfer that heat to the contents of the reactor. Thus, Weflon-coated stir bars, buttons, or reactor components become heating elements, allowing you to effectively heat microwave-transparent solvents without adding polar co-solvents.

Reduce Solvents and Catalysts

Since microwaves heat the compounds directly, researchers can reduce or eliminate solvents, or even reduce the (Pd) catalyst. Some users have successfully replaced their solvents with water. [You can browse our library of synthesis articles for more information on this topic.]
