U.S. EPA Methods
EPA Method 7473: Mercury in Solids and Solutions by Thermal Decomposition, Amalgamation, and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry
Method 7473 is designated for the determination of mercury in solids, aqueous samples, and digestion solutions, in both the laboratory and field environments. Integration of thermal decomposition, sample preparation, and atomic absorption detection reduces the total analysis time of most samples to less than five minutes, in either the laboratory or field setting.
