The DMA-80 is the most rugged direct analyzer available. Unlike other direct analyzers that have polymer components and require on-site assembly, the DMA-80 is constructed almost entirely of stainless steel and arrives fully assembled.
The DMA-80 has a built-in, 40-position autosampler. The one-piece autosampler automatically aligns, and can accommodate both quartz and nickel boats. The autosampler tray is removable - enabling the analyst to load one tray while another is running - thus providing continual analysis and optimal productivity. Unlike other direct analyzers that have an external autosampler, which can leave samples exposed to contamination and result in possible physical interference with the pneumatics, all of the DMA-80’s instrument components, including the autosampler and instrument pneumatics, are completely contained.
The DMA-80 uses two types of sample boats: for samples that have been acidified during collection, like wastewaters, the premium quartz boats are recommended. Samples that do not require any acid preservation are analyzed using the standard nickel sample boats.
Most direct analyzers use an infrared sensor and only monitor the external temperature of the catalyst tube. In contrast, the DMA-80 uses an internal thermocouple that is located right next to sample. This ensures the most accurate temperature feedback and results in unmatched control of the sample decomposition process.
The DMA-80 makes dilutions a thing of the past. A dual cell spectrophotometer affords the analyst an extremely wide working range of 0.005 ng – 1200 ng. In other words – run samples ranging from single digit ppb to high-level ppm on one instrument - without any dilution.
For laboratories that require even more sensitivity, the Tri-Cell DMA-80 is available.
The Tri-Cell model has an additional cell in the spectrophotometer and virtually triples the sensitivity of the standard Single Cell DMA-80. The Tri-Cell DMA-80 is the highest sensitivity direct analyzer on the market with a dynamic range of 0.0015 ng – 1200 ng. It can analyze samples ranging from mid-level ppt to high level ppm.
