FlowSYNTH:
Continuous Flow Reaction System
Introduced March 2006
![]() |
What you learn in the multimode cavity of the bench-top MultiSYNTH or MicroSYNTH labstation will be easily transferable to the FlowSYNTH, which uses a flow-through reaction scheme with full control over all reaction parameters, including the residence time of the chemistry in the microwave field.
- Scale Up from Grams to Kilograms
- Purity of Reaction Products
Fast heating & cooling minimizes reaction by-products - Adaptable to Your Chemistry
Flow rate adjustable from 12 to 100 ml/min - Easy to Operate
Intuitive software control, thorough documentation, and easy-to-access reagent reservoirs make operation simple - Full temperature and pressure control
Run reactions at temperatures up to 200¼C, and pressures up to 30 bar, with precise monitoring & control of process conditions - Compatible with smaller-scale instrumentation
Reactions optimized in Milestone's MultiSYNTH or MicroSYNTH labstations can be easily adapted to run in the FlowSYNTH - Unsurpassed Operator Safety
Safety Officers worldwide encourage their chemists to choose Milestone equipment
The System
The FlowSYNTH system consists of a microwave
labstation fitted with a vertical reactor. Reagents are pumped in
from the bottom of the reactor, and the reaction products flow out
the top into a water-cooled heat exchanger. In-line sensors allow
continuous monitoring of the reaction temperature. Homogeneity
of temperature along the entire length of the reactor is ensured by
a unique screw-type solution homogenizer.
Full Process Control
The FlowSYNTH system is controlled by an external touch-screen
control terminal. Intuitive software allows the user to
control everything from process conditions (temperature, pressure,
etc.) to hardware operating parameters (pump speed, back
pressure valve, and safety operating limits).
The user simply defines the desired temperature-vs.-time profile, and the FlowSYNTH will automatically carry out the programmed cycle, monitoring the process conditions to ensure precise, repeatable adherence to the given method.
A high-performance polymer shield and a computer-controlled pressure control valve help to ensure safe conditions in the TFM flow-through vessel at all times.
In addition to the continuous flow configuration, this dedicated scale-up labstation can be fitted with a vertically mounted high-pressure batch reactor for large-volume applications. This configuration is available in combination with the FlowSYNTH configuration, or as a stand-alone option.
