Routine Samples Ethos Labstations Post-Extraction Accessories High Throughput Large Volume

Overview

Samples submitted for organic analysis can rarely be used in their raw state, and require pre-treatment. The principal step in sample pre-treatment is extraction of the analytes of interest from the sample matrix. This is the least evolved (many people still use the Soxhlet method invented in 1879), most error-prone step in the analytical procedure. The use of laboratory microwave ovens for organic extraction elevates sample preparation to the same level of sophistication as sample analysis.

Milestone's Ethos EX extraction labstation is a high-performance microwave-accelerated system with some of the most advanced process control and safety features currently available. The Ethos system was created to give analysts an extraction platform just as technologically advanced as GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and other analytical techniques.

You can read in greater detail about the Ethos EX labstation. We also offer a wide variety of accessories (for processing larger samples, for post extraction needs, etc...) that allow you to meet the ever changing requirements of your lab.

Benefits of Microwave-Assisted Solvent Extraction

  • Speed. Microwave extractions can be completed within minutes—a fraction of the time, compared to older methods.
  • Economy. Lower solvent usage reduces the costs of solvent purchase and disposal.
  • Effectiveness. Microwave extraction produces higher analyte recoveries than older methods.
  • Simplicity. Use polar or non-polar solvents; no need to modify your existing chemistry.
  • Consistency. Precise, software-based control of all reaction parameters (including time and extraction temperature) ensures method reproducibility.
Extraction movie CD

Milestone is pleased to offer our new video mini-CD on Microwave Accelerated Extraction. This digital movie explores how to substantially increase your lab's productivity by using the Ethos Microwave Extraction Labstation. Simultaneously process multiple samples in minutes, not hours, while using a fraction of the solvents used in traditional methods. Downloadable articles and technical information are available as a part of our Microwave Extraction Review, which is also supplied.
