This book is an indication of the breadth of microwave-enhanced chemistry as a new branch of chemical science. Microwave radiation can be used in many fields of chemistry in addition to sample preparation, decomposition, and extraction. It is now commonly used in the synthesis of organic, organometallic, and inorganic compounds and catalysts. Microwave-assisted sample preparation has become a standard method in thousands of analytical chemical laboratories, and many other chemical manipulations are in the process of standardizing procedures that depend on microwave technology.
