Rotors
High-Throughput Rotors
Milestone's multi-mode microwave labstations, with uniform temperature distribution throughout their large interior cavities, shine in the area of high throughput. You can achieve precisely controllable, easily repeatable digestions of even the most difficult samples, in a parallel format.
Milestone offers two high-throughput rotors: the PRO rotor and the MultiPrep rotor.
The PRO-16/24 Rotor
High Throughput
Our newest and most advanced rotor, the PRO-16/24, is ideal for high-throughput digestion or extraction procedures, and allows synthetic chemists to scale up their chemistry, or process reactions reliably in parallel. Process up to 24 samples in our 75 mL TFM vessels.
Precise Temperature Control
Unlike systems that rely on non-contact, surface temperature monitoring, our in-situ temperature probe measures the sample directly. This gives you the most precise and accurate control of the reaction process, for reproducibility from run to run.
High Pressure
The state-of-the-art PRO vessels are specifically designed to stay tightly sealed under high pressure conditions (up to 500 psi). This seal is imperative for reaching your target temperature and maintaining it without interruption. In the event of over-pressurization, our patented vent-and-reseal technology will release the excess pressure and immediately reseal, preventing sample/reagent loss and allowing the run to continue.
Easy Handling
PRO reactors feature simplified, wrench-free handling. A special indicator on the cap lets you know that the vessel is completely sealed and ready to go. Milestone also offers the only vessels that can be air or water cooled, allowing for complete vessel cooling in only a few minutes. This increases your sample turnaround and lengthens the vessel's working lifetime.
An additional accessory, the PRO-24 Vessel Rack, allows you to store and prepare one set of vessels while another set is being processed in the microwave, increasing throughput even further.

The MultiPrep Rotor
The
MultiPrep rotor handles up to 41 simultaneous samples, at
up to 20 bar pressure, for easy digestions or leaching-type reactions on a
variety of sample types, such as soils, sediments, wastewater, etc. You can
process samples according to standardized methods including EPA 3050B and
3051A. Microwave processing of samples is fast and easy to meet the demands
of your busy lab.

Vessel Inserts
If small sample sizes are appropriate to your application, then you can increase your throughput even further. A standard 100 mL digestion vessel can fit three of Milestone's microsampling inserts, allowing you to triple your sample processing capabilities. In a 12-position rotor, you can process up to 36 samples at a time.
Microsampling inserts are available in Teflon (6 mL) and high-purity quartz (3 mL) versions, to suit a variety of applications. These components are rugged enough to handle operating temperatures up to 240°C, and pressures up to 30 bar. They are compatible with the standard temperature monitoring features of the Ethos labstation.
Besides increasing throughput, microsampling inserts are ideal for smaller samples because they minimize the necessary acid volume. In addition to the cost savings, this will help to optimize your dilution factor.
