Hardware Vessels Temp/Pressure Control Magnetic Stirring Software

vessel animated schematic Microwave sample vessels have evolved significantly over the past decade. The original models were low-pressure (100–200 psi) designs without the benefit of temperature or pressure control. The second generation improved pressure limits (up to 20 atm), but were still limited by burst disks that would release pressure via a thin plastic membrane which would burst when the pressure limit was exceeded. Unfortunately, this meant when the vessel vented, the sample was lost.

venting The foundation of Milestone's microwave technology is our highly reliable third generation re-sealable digestion vessels. Vessels are placed in a sample rotor and secured with a calibrated torque wrench for uniform pressure, to prevent leaks and ensure that the patented pressure-relief spring operates to spec. If the operating pressure exceeds the vessel limits, a patented spring device allows the vessel to open and close instantaneously, bringing the internal pressure down to a containable level. Unlike other release designs, this spring releases only the excess pressure, allowing valuable sample (including volatile elements) to remain in the vessel.

"I have now been using some of the same Milestone vessels for over eight years. I have never gotten this performance out of any other manufacturer's vessels. These vessels have been stressed to the maximum many times . . . where the most challenging samples are brought for testing."

Milestone vessels are also easy to assemble, and offer substantial long-term cost savings over other designs that have cumbersome single-use consumables. Sample rotors are available with high-purity TFM liners and covers (ideal for trace and ultra-trace analysis) with pressure ratings from 500 psi (easy to moderately difficult samples) to 1500 psi (difficult or large samples).
